RUPERT, Ida.--Edward Nelson, 90, one of the earliest pioneer resident of the Minidoka tract, died Saturday morning at his home following an illness of the past month.
Born Sept. 14, 1861, at Logan, Utah, he married Mary A. Holmes on May 22, 1915, in Preston. They homesteaded a farm three miles south and one and one-half miles east of Rupert and had resided there since. In the early days he served as a ditch rider and had also worked at the sugar factory in Paul in addition to his farming activities.
He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the 100 F Lodge. Surviving are his widow; a son, Robert Nelson, Rupert, and two daughters, Eva Nelson, Rupert, and Mrs. Doris Botan, Wendell; two brothers and three sisters, T.E. Nelson, Pocatello; A.E. Nelson, Twin Falls, and Mrs. Margaret Thomas, Burley; Mrs. Rhoda Bush, Malad, and Mrs. Elaine Smith, Salt Lake City, Utah, and two grandsons.
Goodman Mortuary will announce funeral services.
